Taxonomy
Echinoconchus pelliceus was named by Chronic (1949). Its type specimen is AMNH 26946/1:4, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AMNH297, Bed 13, Cerro Ampáy section 7, Abancáy, which is in an Asselian/Sakmarian marine limestone in Peru.
