Arcanoceras was named by Ruzhencev (1965) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u C Serp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302,304]. It is not extant. Its type is Girtyoceras burmai.
It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eogonioloboceratidae by Titus (2000), Korn (2006) and Furnish et al. (2009).
