Aristoceratoides was named by Ruzhencev (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad]. It is not extant. Its type is Thalassoceras varicosum.
It was assigned to Aristoceratinae by Leonova (2002); to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Thalassoceratidae by Korn (2006); and to Thalassoceratinae by Furnish et al. (2009).
