Taxonomy
Cervella aspera was named by Chronic (1949). Its type specimen is AMNH 26976/1:1 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AMNH301, Bed 30, Rasuvilca Hills section 9, Pajege Canyon, which is in an Asselian/Sakmarian marine limestone in Peru.

It was recombined as Alternifenestella (Cervella) aspera by Sakagami (1995).
