Manicina geisteri was named by Budd and Johnson (1999). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is NMB Loc. 16844 - Río Cano [Cercado Fm], which is in a Messinian coastal sandstone/limestone in the Cercado Formation of the Dominican Republic.
