Taxonomy
Caenolyroceras was named by Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: C Serp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 304]. Its type is Caenolyroceras subgloboides.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lyrogoniatitinae by Korn (2006) and Furnish et al. (2009).
