Anidanthus cessnockensis was named by Briggs (1998). Its type specimen is UQ F75357, a shell (Conjoined shell), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UQ L5114, Mount View, which is in an Artinskian marine sandstone in the Farley Formation of Australia.
