Taxonomy
Strophalosia warwicki was named by Maxwell (1954). Its type specimen is UQ F15626, a valve (Ventral valve internal mold), and it is a mold. Its type locality is UQ L622, Eurydesma Gully, Wildash Parish, which is in an Artinskian marine siliciclastic in the Eurydesma Beds Formation of Australia.

It was corrected as Strophalosia warwickensis by Waterhouse (1986) and Waterhouse (1986); it was recombined as Echinalosia warwicki by Briggs (1998); it was recombined as Capillaria warwicki by Waterhouse (2001).
