Taxonomy
Taeniothaerus homevalensis was named by Briggs (1983). Its type specimen is UQ F72738, a valve (Dorsal valve interior), and it is a mold. Its type locality is UQ L2584, Homevale, which is in an Artinskian marine siliciclastic in the Tiverton Formation of Australia.
