Taxonomy
Viverra hastingsae was named by Davies (1884). It is not extant. Its type locality is Hordle Cliff Crocodile Bed, Hampshire, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the Headon Beds Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Quercygale hastingsae by Wesley-Hunt and Werdelin (2005).
