Taxonomy
Murchisonia monoliniformis was named by Lindström (1884). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Burgsvik, which is in a Ludfordian marine sandstone/limestone in the Burgsvik Beds Formation of Sweden.
It was recombined as Hormotoma moniliformis by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); it was recombined as Hormotoma monoliniformis by Kurushin (1986); it was recombined as Coelocaulus monoliniformis by Wagner (1999); it was recombined as Cyrtostropha monoliniformis by Wagner (2023).
