Cinctura was named by Hollister (1957). It is extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Fasciolaria by Petit (2003); it was reranked as Fasciolaria (Cinctura) by Petuch and Roberts (2007).

It was assigned to Fasciolaria by Petuch and Roberts (2007); and to Fasciolariinae by Snyder (2003) and Snyder et al. (2012).
