Taxonomy
Discoclymenia was named by Hyatt (1884) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fame-m D Fame-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302,457]. Its type is Goniatites cucullatus. It is the type genus of Discoclymeniinae.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Discoclymeniinae by Korn and Klug (2002), Korn (2006) and Korn et al. (2016).
