Leptoptilos patagonicus
Taxonomy
Leptoptilos patagonicus was named by Noriega and Cladera (2008). Its type specimen is MEF 1363, a partial skeleton (associated partial skeleton wing and leg bones and a few fragments of the skull), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Punta Buenos Aires, which is in a Miocene coastal mudstone/limestone in the San Madryn Formation of Argentina.
