Taxonomy
Emilites was named by Ruzhencev (1938) [Sepkoski's age data: C Step-l P Asse-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Paralegoceras incertum. It is the type genus of Emilitinae.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Emilitinae by Leonova and Bogoslovskaya (1990), Korn (2006) and Leonova and Boiko (2015); and to Adrianitinae by Furnish et al. (2009) and Zhou (2017).
