Taxonomy
Eohyattoceras was named by Glenister and Furnish (1987) [Sepkoski's age data: P Sakm P Leon-u Sepkoski's reference number: 732]. Its type is Eohyattoceras gerthi.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Marathonitinae by Bogoslovskaya (1990) and Korn (2006); and to Hyattoceratidae by Furnish et al. (2009).
