Taxonomy
Fusus tortilis was named by Whitfield (1865) [DISTRIBUTION: Paleocene-Eocene; western Atlantic.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Latirus tortilis by Maury (1912); it was recombined as Pseudolatirus tortilis by Snyder (2003).
