Taxonomy
Epithalassoceras was named by Miller and Furnish (1940) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-l]. Its type is Epithalassoceras ruzencevi.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Thalassoceratidae by Korn (2006); and to Thalassoceratinae by Furnish et al. (2009).
