Mesopsychidae was named by Tillyard (1917). It is not extant. Its type is Mesopsyche.
It was assigned to Trichoptera by Tillyard (1917); to Paratrichoptera by Tillyard (1919), Tillyard (1923) and Martynov (1937); to Mecoptera by Willmann (1978), Carpenter (1992) and Novokshonov (1997); to Aneuretopsychina by Ren et al. (2009); and to Mesopsychoidea by Zhao et al. (2020).
