Euroceras was named by Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: C Serp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302,304].

It was assigned to Stenoglaphyritidae by Titus (2000); to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Stenolaphyritidae by Korn (2006); and to Stenoglaphyritinae by Furnish et al. (2009).
