Taxonomy
Neochonetes beatusi was named by Waterhouse (1964). Its type specimen is NZGS BR743 and is a mold. Its type locality is GS7352, Letham Burn (D44/f9870), which is in a Capitanian marine sandstone in the Mangarewa Formation of New Zealand.
