Taxonomy
Lutra reevei was named by Newton (1890) [No type specimen number is listed by Newton (1890).]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bramerton, which is in a Gelasian marine horizon in the Norwich Crag Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Enhydriodon reevei by Repenning (1976); it was recombined as Enhydra reevei by Willemsen (1992).
