Anthracosaurus lancifer
Taxonomy
Rhizodus lancifer was named by Newberry (1856). Its type specimen is OSU 4500, a tooth (palatal tusk), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Linton, which is in a Westphalian D mire/swamp coal in Ohio.
It was recombined as Megalichthys lancifer by Hay (1902); it was recombined as Anthracosaurus lancifer by Romer (1963) and Panchen (1970); it was considered a nomen oblitum by Borgen and Nakrem (2016).
