Taxonomy
Hyattoceras was named by Gemmellaro (1887) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon P Djhu Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. Its type is Hyattoceras geinitzi.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Hyattoceratinae by Bogoslovskaya (1990) and Korn (2006); and to Hyattoceratidae by Leonova (2002) and Furnish et al. (2009).
