Intoceras was named by Kusina (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-l C Vise-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302,1042]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Intoceratidae by Korn (2006) and Furnish et al. (2009).
