Isohomoceras was named by Ruzhencev and Bogoslovskaya (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: C Serp-u C Bash-l Sepkoski's reference number: 304]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Homoceratidae by Korn (2006); and to Homoceratinae by Furnish et al. (2009).
