Brachyseris silex was named by Eliasova (1994). Its type locality is Korycany, Czechia, which is in a Cenomanian reef, buildup or bioherm rudstone in the Korycany Formation of the Czech Republic.
It was recombined as Brachymeandra silex by Baron-Szabo (2009).
