Taxonomy
Nuculopsis (Palaeonucula) okawensis was named by Schenck (1939). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Nuculopsis okawensis by Hoare et al. (1989); it was recombined as Nuculavus okawensis by Hoare (1993).

Hoare 1993Small Nuculavus, subtriangular in shape; beaks incurved, slightly opisthogyrate with inflated umbos raised above hingeline; anterior and posterior margins more strongly curved than ventral margin; lunule and escutcheon not defined; surface marked by numerous, closely spaced (7-8 per mm), comarginal,strap-like ridges; hingement of eight larger, chevron-shaped teeth anteriorly and seven smaller, chevron-shaped teeth posteriorly; anterior and posterior adductor scars prominent; smaller, suboval, anterior protractor scar located dorsoposteriorly to anterior adductor scar; pallial line not distinct.
