Taxonomy
Thamnasteria iranensis was named by Pandey and Fürsich (2003). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is North of Kalshaneh, which is in an Aalenian/Bajocian reef, buildup or bioherm mixed carbonate-siliciclastic in the Badamu Formation of Iran.
