Taxonomy
Oculina sarasotana was named by Weisbord (1971). It is not extant. Its type locality is Warren Brothers Pit, Sarasota, which is in a Pliocene reef, buildup or bioherm limestone/sandstone in the Tamiami Formation of Florida.
