Dichocoenia eminens was named by Weisbord (1974). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Caloosahatchee River and Shell Creek, which is in a Pliocene/Pleistocene shallow subtidal marl/sandstone in the Caloosahatchee Formation of Florida.
