Taxonomy
Neoshumardites was named by Ruzhencev (1936) [Sepkoski's age data: C Step-l P Leon-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Neoshumardites triceps.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Somoholitidae by Leonova (2002), Korn (2006) and Furnish et al. (2009).
