Taxonomy
Nuculoceras was named by Bisat (1924) [Sepkoski's age data: C Serp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Nuculoceras nuculum. It is the type genus of Nuculoceratidae.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Nuculoceratidae by Korn (2006); and to Nuculoceratinae by Furnish et al. (2009).
