Orulganites was named by Ruzhencev (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: C Bash-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Orulganitidae.
It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Orulganitidae by Korn (2006) and Furnish et al. (2009).
