Taxonomy
Parodiceras was named by Hyatt (1884) [Sepkoski's age data: D Eife-u D Give-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302,457,1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Goniatites discoideus. It is the type genus of Parodoceratidae, Parodoceratinae.

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Clarke (1899); to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Parodoceratinae by Korn and Klug (2002); and to Parodoceratidae by Korn (2006).
