Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
J. W. Busanus and R. D. Hoare 1991Limipecten with numerous equidimensional, body costae crossed by fine, imbricated, comarginal, growth lamellae forming a reticulate pattern; large auricles with numerous costae; large, elongate, ligament pit in right valve; subcircular, nearly acline.

Right valve subcircular, acline to slightly prosocline, moderately convex; length/height ratio ranges from 0.70 to 1.10 depending upon size; anterior and ventral margins evenly convex, posterior margin more broadly convex; anterior auricle separated from shell body by deep byssal notch; shorter, posterior auricle set off by shallow, concave sinus; body ornamentation of up to 80 nearly equal-sized, narrowly rounded, fine, radial costae, increasing by intercalation, separated by narrower intercostal grooves; anterior auricle with 6-8 costae, posterior auricle with 11-15 costae; costae crossed by regularly spaced, fine, imbricated, raised, comarginal, growth lamellae; ligamental pit long. Left valve subcircular, moderately convex, with hinge length less than valve length; anterior auricle shorter than posterior auricle, both separated from shell body by concave marginal sinuses; posterior margin ventral to auricular sinus nearly straight before rounding convexly into ventral margin; shell body ornamented by up to 85 nearly equal-sized, narrowly rounded, fine costae, which increase by bifurcation; anterior and posterior auricles with up to 20 costae each; valve surface crossed by numerous, more or less equally spaced, raised, comarginal lamellae forming a reticulate pattern with the costae.
R. D. Hoare 1993Limipecten of medium size; left valve with over 58 rounded, closely spaced, body costae; costae crossed by nu-merous more or less equally spaced, raised, comarginal lamellae forming a reticulate network with the costae; posterior auricle with at least six costae; other features unknown.
