Holcorhynchia anceps was named by Dagys (1965). Its type specimen is IGiG 175/118 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Achakveem creek, upper Kegali River, which is in a Julian marine horizon in the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Sulcorhynchia anceps by Dagys (1974).
