Taxonomy
Blastomeryx antilopinus was named by Scott (1893) [also said to be 1893].

It was recombined as Palaeomeryx antilopinus by Douglass (1899) and Matthew (1904); it was recombined as Dromomeryx antilopinus by Douglass (1909), Scott (1913), Frick (1937) and Janis and Manning (1998); it was recombined as Subdromomeryx antilopinus by Prothero and Liter (2007) and Prothero and Liter (2008).

W. B. Scott 1893Size decidedly smaller than that of B. borealis Cope, and ribs of external crescents on upper molars less prominent.
D. R. Prothero and M. R. Liter 2008Similar to Dromomeryx, but much smaller size (Table
1; Fig. 10); molars more mesodont; premolar row shorter, and Palaeomeryx fold usually lost. Supraorbital horns relatively smaller, with basal flange less pronounced, and limbs relatively longer and more slender than those of Dromomeryx (after Janis and Manning, 1998, p. 483).
