Taxonomy
Properrinites was named by Elias (1938) [Sepkoski's age data: P Sakm-l P Sakm-u Sepkoski's reference number: 305]. It is not extant. Its type is Perrinites boesei.

It was reranked as Abichia (Properrinites) by Toumanskaya (1949).

It was assigned to Abichia by Toumanskaya (1949); to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Paraperrinitinae by Tharalson (1984) and Korn (2006); and to Perrinitidae by Furnish et al. (2009) and Zhou (2017).
