Idelesaurus was named by Kurkin (2006). It is not extant. Its type is Idelesaurus tataricus.

It was assigned to Cryptodontidae by Kurkin (2006); to Cryptodontinae by Ivakhnenko (2008); and to Geikiidae by Kammerer and Angielczyk (2009).
