Wewokites was named by Furnish and Beghtel (1961) [Sepkoski's age data: C Step-l C Step-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Gonioglyphioceratidae by Korn (2006); and to Wiedeyoceratidae by Furnish et al. (2009).
