Taxonomy
Artioceras was named by Ruzhencev (1947) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Artioceratinae.

It was assigned to Prolecanitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Artioceratinae by Leonova (1989) and Korn (2006); and to Sicanitinae by Furnish et al. (2009).
