Taxonomy
Artioceras was named by Ruzhencev (1947) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon]. It is not extant. Its type is Propinacoceras rhipaeum.

It was assigned to Prolecanitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Sicanitinae by Furnish et al. (2009); and to Artioceratinae by Leonova (1989), Leonova (2002), Korn (2006) and Leonova (2019).
