Taxonomy
Difuntites was named by Glenister and Furnish (1988). Its type is Propinacoceras hidium.

It was assigned to Prolecanitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Propinacoceratinae by Leonova (2002), Korn (2006), Furnish et al. (2009), Zhou (2017) and Leonova (2019).
