Taxonomy
Cyclolites cottreaui was named by Collignon (1932). Its type locality is Soaravikely, which is in a Bathonian/Callovian shallow subtidal limestone in Madagascar.

It was recombined as Montlivaltia cottreaui by Alloiteau (1958).
