Taxonomy
Episageceras was named by Noetling (1904) [Sepkoski's age data: P Djhu Tr Indu-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302,1251]. It is the type genus of Episageceratidae.

It was assigned to Prolecanitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Episageceratidae by Korn (2006); and to Episageceratinae by Furnish et al. (2009).
