Taxonomy
Axitectum vjushkovi was named by Shishkin and Novikov (1992). Its type specimen is PIN 1025/334, an osteoderm (osteoderm plate), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Spasskoye settlement (Vokhma Formation), PIN 1025, which is in an Induan terrestrial horizon in the Vokhminskaya Formation of the Russian Federation.
