Taxonomy
Pleuronectites meeki was named by Newell and Boyd (1995). Its type specimen is AMNH 44069, a valve (Left valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AMNH B8517, Cottonwood Pass, which is in a Spathian shallow subtidal limestone in the Moenkopi Formation of Nevada.
