Taxonomy
Galeodea (Caliagaleodea) californica was named by Clark (1942). Its type specimen is UCMP 34376, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP 7004, Simi Valley, which is in a Lutetian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone in the Llajas Formation of California.
It was recombined as Galeodea californica by Beu (2008), Squires (2019) and Hendy (2020).
