Taxonomy
Dimorphofungia aubouini was named by Bonneau et al. (1974). Its type locality is Miamou, Crete Island, which is in a Kimmeridgian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Miamou Formation of Greece. It is the type species of Dimorphofungia.
